The county district attorney, the Mayor of White Plains and other businesses have partnered to offer free cab rides between the hours of 11:00 pm and 3:00 am New Year’s eve. This is a great idea that should be spread around to the rest of the state and country.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Dec 12, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the City of White Plains and HEINEKEN USA today announced plans to keep residents safe this New Year’s Eve, through their annual “New Year. Safe Ride.” program. The groups will provide free and safe rides home to Westchester County residents of legal drinking age celebrating New Year’s Eve in downtown White Plains.
Reinforcing HEINEKEN USA’s commitment to promote responsible consumption, a dedicated fleet will provide complimentary rides home for those 21 and older traveling anywhere in White Plains and throughout Westchester County.

Safe Ride.’ initiative that encourages enjoyment of our products while reinforcing our values of safety and responsibility,” said Tara Carraro, Senior Director, Corporate Communications, HEINEKEN USA. “This program is a great way to kick off 2012 by reminding our consumers, colleagues, employees and neighbors to make responsible decisions if they choose to consume alcohol.”
Revelers can take advantage of this service between 11:00 p.m. on December 31 and 3:00 a.m. on January 1. The car service will be located in the heart of downtown, on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue.
